History

Château Mas de Pradié was built in the mid eighteenth century and its large barn, which today has been converted into an impressive Event Hall, once served as a royal relay station for horses, meaning that royalty often stopped here on their way north. It was also home to an old mill that operated when the lake flooded seasonally into the ancient cave system below.

Château Mas de Pradié was taken over by current owner, Julia, in 2019 and has since undergone an intense period of renovation to bring its character back to life. Julia has sought to find that perfect balance between maintaining the property’s original charm and making it an enviable location for events and luxury stays; breathing new life into old stones while successfully maintaining an authentic and rustic appeal and staying true to the nature and historic of this special place.

Artists have sought out the south of France for centuries for its mesmerising scenery and special quality of light, which at sunset, floods the land with a beautiful golden shimmer. The previous owner of the Château was an artist who put his own stamp on the estate and this tradition has continued with current owner, Julia.

A Message from your Host...

"A step to the side has led me down this path to Mas de Pradié and my new home in France. A decision made that life from here on will only be filled with beauty, nature and truth.  A wish to hear birds sing, watch flowers bloom and smell delicacies bake. A desire for a slower life, but a fuller life. A haven where all my life skills as an artist, ceramicist, interior designer and author, can come together in this place. This will be my ultimate organic masterpiece, buildings and barns in stone and wood, with walled gardens, a grotto and woodlands. This magical place has secrets to reveal! I invite you on this journey with me."
